The bright white outline is a stark contrast between the fins and the black body of this almost 2 foot “Triggerfish”. It can use one eye to stare at an intruder while the other is scanning for a crevice to dart into. Once inside a crevice its dorsal spine locks erect making it impossible for a predator to pull it out. It was swimming over a majestic Elkhorn coral with the rays of sunlight casting an eerie backdrop. At the bottom left is a small Parrotfish poking around for a snack.
