The largest fish in this painting is called a Stoplight Parrotfish. We see a lot of these fish in coral reefs. They are constantly scraping algae off of dead coral rock with their “beaks” and excreting plumes of white sand. They are one of the major producers of sand in the tropics. This was a beautiful reef with a huge variety of coral and fish. Can you spot the Redband Parrotfish, the tiny Sergeant Major and Smallmouth Grunt?
